BI and AI, two new kids on the block. Have you met them?

At first sight we often experience them as bullies that want to nullify us.

I've been working with both for the last 2 years, and I came to realise that they are my friends.

BI (business intelligence) helps me to better understand my business, enabling me to make more informed decision based on factual information directly from my Pastel system. Compiling high quality BI reports, such as management accounts, top customer trends, cash flows etc., takes significant resources if done manually. In an SME, the cost of this often do not match up to the benefits, resulting in it not being done often enough.

AI (artificial intelligence) is the enabler that ensures that I receive BI reports consistently without fail. "Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence by computers."

AI is my friend because it helps me to simulate the manual processes of compiling BI reports.

Now my SME businesses have awesome reports generated every day at a fraction of the cost. This gives my team the ability to apply their "grey matter" to drive the business forward, rather than endlessly trying to generate reports.
